Unibet Leaving Microgaming in 2014, Revamping VIP Software

unibet

According to a recent press release, Unibet will be leaving the Microgaming Network in early 2014 and move to a independent network, using a custom software, sometime in early 2014. The move comes on the heels of Ladbrokes’ announcement they would be leaving Microgaming for iPoker on December 21st.

Daniel Eskola, Head of Gaming of Unibet stated, “The environment in the online poker industry has changed over the years and we have come to the insight that being part of a poker network is not sustainable in the long term. This project has given us the possibility to start from a blank piece of paper and define everything we believe is important for a fun poker experience. In a way, our goal is to bring the fun back to poker by creating software with a clear focus on the casual player.”

Highlights of the new software will include easier quick-seat options, 3D backgrounds and gameplay improvements such as achievements and missions, which were also recently launched with much fanfare on Party Poker. Players will also have the possibility to change screen names and be able to play the new software on a PC, Mac, browser and tablet version on iOS and Andriod.

In preperation for the move, Unibet has put a halt on all poker sign-up bonuses starting December 16th, allowing all players a chance to clear the bonus before the network move. VIP upgrades to Platinum have also been removed for players since the status will no longer exist on the new network. In its place will be a VIP Loyalty Scheme, which Unibet has promised to release soon.

PAS will be sure to pass on any changes to any new Unibet commission scheme as the information becomes available.
