http://www.casinoaffiliateebook.com/2013/09/16/wsop-com-to-launch-this-thursday/And then there were two. Caesars Entertainment, owner of the WSOP brand, today announced today that they would launch the second regulated real money online poker room in the state of Nevada this Thursday. Caesars Entertainment, which called today’s announcement “historic,” were widely expected to launch during the World Series of Poker this summer, but were reportedly held up due to licensing and software testing delays.
When the WSOP launches this Thursday, Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Stud games will be the available games. Stakes for cash games will start at $ 0.01/$ 0.02 with tournament buy-ins as low as $ 1.10. Deposit methods will include e-checks, Visa, Mastercard and debit cards, while withdrawals will be limited to e-check and paper check. State law requires that participants in real money online poker games in Nevada be located in Nevada at the time of play and must be 21 or over.
The announcement comes some five months after Ultimate Poker became the first regulated real money online poker room to launch in Nevada, the first state to regulate online poker in the United States. Ultimate Poker sees approximately 350 real money cash game players each night, according to PokerScout, enough to make them the 6th biggest online poker room catering to U.S. players.
Industry observers will keenly observe the effect that the strong WSOP.com brand has on traffic, and what, if any, impact the launch will have on Ultimate Poker. Caesars Entertainment also plans on launching a online gaming product in New Jersey at the end of 2013 that could have even more impact on the U.S. online gambling market due to the state’s large population and proximity to other large U.S. cities.
